The night of November 11, 2021 was nothing short of magical for Affirming YOUth and its community partners. With emerald green decorations and emerald green dresses and neckties, both the location and its guests were dressed up to celebrate the Emerald Gala. In commemoration of its ten year anniversary, Affirming YOUth held its very first gala and awards ceremony to honor the individuals who have supported the foundation’s founder, Mr. Jonathan Spikes, on his journey to making the organization what it is today: a lighthouse for at-risk youth and their families.
The evening began with a social hour where its invitees were able to discuss with one another and share the nostalgic memories of the foundation’s earlier days over delicious hor d’oeuvres catered by Garden of Soulfood. Music poured over the stereo as the calming and harmonious sounds of Jon Saxx‘s saxophone filled the spacious room. Once it was time for the program to begin, the night’s host Tamara G captured everyone’s attention with a warm welcome. The rest of the night was filled with grateful faces, surprised looks, and heart-felt thank you speeches.
