Project SEEDS Graduation

Affirming YOUth is excited to announce its first graduating class of Project SEEDS

Affirming Youth celebrated the achievement on June 3rd at Liberty City Elementary School with much fanfare surrounded by program participants, their families, and members of the community.
The children enjoyed light refreshments and door prizes, while some lucky students were awarded brand new bikes – donated by community partner
40 students between the ages of 7 and 12 years old participated in a series of workshops designed to enhance their social-emotional skills while developing life skills and developing strategies for living violence-free.
The youth-focused initiatives involved peer to peer group sessions and one-on-one counseling sessions. The children were seen three times a week. Throughout the 10-week program, parents/caretakers also participated in various activities.
The program has not only benefited kids but adults as well, including a mother of two of participating students who was able to tap into the resources of Project SEEDS and find a job. It is these collaborative missions that make Project SEEDS and the Affirming YOUth foundation a great success today and for many years to come.
Special thanks to Mr. T. Willard Fair of the Urban League of Greater Miami for the financial support that made this program possible; Ms. Adrian Rogers, Principal of Liberty City Elementary School; Dr. Donnie Hale of FIU Education Effect; students, parents, teachers, and staff of Liberty City Elementary School.
